The Experience
Belfast is a city where food reflects history and daily life. This experience is designed to show that connection in a clear and approachable way.
Your Belfast Food Tour begins outside Belfast City Hall, where you’ll meet your guide. After a brief introduction, the group sets off on foot. The first tasting features a local breakfast dish that introduces familiar flavours.
As the tour progresses, you’ll visit a small number of pubs and food spots. Each venue is chosen for its link to Belfast’s food culture. The dishes served are traditional and straightforward. They reflect what locals enjoy rather than novelty options.
Between tastings, your guide explains key moments from Belfast’s past. These stories help place the food within a wider social context. The route also includes streets known for public artwork, which adds another layer to the city’s character.
The pace of the tour allows time for conversation and tasting. Walking distances are kept manageable throughout.
What’s included:
- The experience begins at a local café, where you’ll enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate. You’ll also sample a chocolate treat filled with liqueur. The staff explain how the chocolate is made and where the ingredients come from.
- Next, you’ll try traditional Northern Irish soda bread served with sausage. This stop offers a simple introduction to local food traditions
- You’ll then taste a freshly shucked oyster, prepared in front of you. This ensures both freshness and flavour.
- The tour continues to Belfast’s oldest tavern, which dates back to 1630. Inside, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy a selection of classic pub dishes. These include Irish stew, fried cod, and spiced calamari. Each dish is served alongside a locally brewed Irish beer.
- Your experience concludes at a well-known emporium decorated with striking murals. This final stop is the setting for a relaxed drink and time to reflect on the tour.
- As with all our tours, a Secret Dish is also included.
